Somewhat limits the “what if I’m just thinking what I want them to say?”.
Adds the “How do I know this is a deity/spirit and not a normal person with a god-complex/playing a practical joke?” complication, though…

I, uh, still have the problem on occasion of telling Marvel!Thor apart from Deity!Thor (someone’s gonna take offense to that wording, and I do not care) because they sound a lot alike. They look different, they feel different, but if I hear the voice before I feel the presence, it can be hard to sort, and it takes me a minute to decide which it was.
That said, Deity!Thor doesn’t actually talk to me much. He just…hangs around, so I get this distinct feeling of presence without any actual physical component to it. So. That makes it easier.
